Choose your import settings

Features · Updated Jul 16, 2026

The Import settings card on the Import page controls how imported products are created in your Shopify store. Set them before you click Start migration; they apply to every product in that import.

The settings

  • Add to collection: pick a collection and every imported product is added to it. Only manual collections work here. Automated collections are not allowed because Shopify manages their contents by rules.
  • Price multiplier: multiplies each product's price. For example, a multiplier of 1.5 turns a $10 product into $15. Use 1 to keep original prices.
  • Set product as active: on, products go live immediately. Off, they're created as drafts so you can review them first.
  • This is a physical product: marks products as requiring shipping.
  • Charge tax on this product: marks products as taxable.
  • Track quantity: turns on inventory tracking for the imported products.

Tips

  • Importing as drafts (turning Set product as active off) is the safest choice for large imports. You can review and publish products in your Shopify admin when you're ready.
  • Settings are per import. Check them each time, especially the price multiplier.
