Collect leads in chat
RagChat can turn anonymous visitors into leads by asking for their name and email during the conversation. This works on every plan and is on by default.
How it works
Early in a conversation with an unknown visitor, the AI introduces itself and asks for their name and email in a normal chat message, so it can help them better.
It asks at most once and stays friendly about it. The visitor can answer or ignore it, and the conversation carries on either way. If they share just a name or just an email, the AI saves whatever it gets.
Once a visitor shares their email, they become a contact. That means:
- You see who they are in the inbox instead of an anonymous visitor.
- If they leave the page, you can still reach them by email (on plans that include email replies).
- They count toward the Leads captured stat on your dashboard.
Turn it on or off
- Open RagChat and go to Settings → AI.
- Under Capabilities, toggle Collect leads.
- Click Save.
Even with lead collection off, the AI still asks for an email when it genuinely needs one, for example to verify an order or to follow up after a human handoff.
