Create your first option set
An option set is a group of custom options that you assign to products. This article walks you through building one from scratch.
If you'd rather not start from a blank page, you can start from a template instead.
Create the option set
- In the app, go to Option sets.
- Click Create option set.
- Give it an Option set name. This name is visible only to you, so pick something descriptive like "Engraving options".
Add options
- Click Add option and pick a type from the Select an option modal. There are 20 types, from text boxes to swatches and file uploads. See Option types you can add.
- Fill in the option's settings:
- Option name: a unique name, shown next to the customer's choice on the cart page.
- Option label: the label customers see on the product page.
- Required: turn on if customers must fill this in before adding to cart.
- For choice-based types (Dropdown, Radio button, Checkbox, swatches, Button), add your option values, one per choice.
- Repeat for every option you need. Drag options to reorder them.
The live preview on the page shows exactly how the options will look on your storefront as you build.
Assign products
- In the option set, choose which products it applies to: All products, specific products, or products matching conditions like collection, tag, type, or vendor.
- Use View affected products to double-check your selection.
See Choose which products an option set applies to for details.
Save and check your storefront
- Click Save.
- Open one of the assigned products on your storefront. Your options should be there.
If nothing shows up, the app embed probably isn't enabled yet. See Set up Optionize on your store.
