Changelog

New features, improvements, and fixes in WiseReviews.

# Refreshed review request and notification emails

Review request emails now start from a cleaner design with no externally hosted images. The rest of the WiseReviews and shopper email set has refreshed copy, consistent branding, and a plain-text version for email clients that need it.

If you customized your review request template, it stays as you left it.

# Fix: eBay imports failing on a temporary bot check

eBay product imports now recognize the temporary bot-check page instead of treating it like a product page. WiseReviews retries the request through a different connection, and shows a clearer message if eBay is still blocking it.

Read the import guide

# Import reviews from the Shop app

  • Paste a Shop App product link (like shop.app/products/123456/product-name) into Import reviews to bring those reviews into your store.
  • Review photos and the merchant's public reply come along with each review.
  • No Chrome extension needed, and you can tick Automatically sync new reviews to keep pulling in new ones.
  • Shop App also works as a source in the Plus plan's multiple URL CSV import.

# Fix: Autopublish and other settings reverting after a reload

  • Editing Autopublish (or other settings) and reloading could put the old values back, so a later Save stored the previous choices. 4-star and 5-star Autopublish turning themselves back on was the reported case.
  • Settings pages now keep your in-progress edits. Turning every Autopublish rating off stays off.
  • See Moderate new reviews automatically.

# Fix: bulk actions on the duplicate filter affected every review

  • Searching !duplicate, selecting all, and running Delete (or any other bulk action) applied to every review in the shop instead of the ones listed. Bulk actions now only touch the reviews that match your filters.
  • The count above the review list is now the true number of matching reviews, and Select all names that exact number instead of showing a rounded "25+".
  • Deleting every matching review now asks you to type that number to confirm.
  • The !duplicate list shows only the redundant copies. The first copy of each set is kept and is not listed, so deleting everything listed leaves exactly one of each.

See Manage your reviews for the full delete steps.

# Choose how review dates are formatted

  • Review dates used to always read as "Aug 24, 2026", which looks wrong to shoppers outside the US.
  • Review widgets settings → General now has a Review date format dropdown with five options, including day/month/year and year-month-day.
  • It appears once Show review date is on, and every option is labelled with a sample date.
  • Nothing changes for your store until you pick a new one. See Customize the review widgets.

# Fix: the Extension page would not open

  • Clicking Extension in the WiseReviews sidebar returned a "403 Forbidden" error instead of opening the page. It now loads normally.
  • Stores on the Free plan could not reach it either, because the page redirected to Plans after the first three days. The Extension page is now available on every plan.
  • You need this page to install the Chrome extension and copy your Extension app key. See Import reviews with the Chrome extension.

# Fix: the Product Reviews block installed into a narrow column

  • Clicking Enable app blocks in the widget installer used to drop the Product Reviews block inside your theme's product section, where it inherited that section's narrow content column and the reviews list looked cramped.
  • It now arrives in its own full-width section, so the reviews list uses the whole page. You can still drag it wherever you want before saving.

# Email notifications for new reviews now need a paid plan

  • Notify via email, under Settings → Manage new reviews, is now part of the Standard and Plus plans.
  • On the Free plan the setting is switched off, and turning it on prompts you to upgrade. Your notification email address is kept, so upgrading turns it straight back on.
  • Everything else on that page (autopublish, profanity filter, blocked IP addresses, auto reply) works the same on every plan.

# Fix: review requests wrongly marked Failed

  • When a lot of review requests came due at once, our email provider rejected the overflow and those requests were marked Failed straight away instead of being tried again.
  • Requests now go out at a steady pace, and a temporary provider problem is retried automatically before anything is marked failed.
  • Requests already marked Failed this way are still there. Go to Review requests and click Retry on a row to send it now, even if its original date has passed.
  • The Schedule column no longer gets overwritten when a request is sent, so it shows the date the request was actually scheduled for.

# See what's already installed in the widget installer

The Install review widget modal now reads your published theme and tells you where you stand.

  • Each step shows an Active or Inactive badge, so you no longer have to open the theme editor to find out whether the app embed or the widget blocks are live.
  • The buttons take you straight there: Enable app embed opens the theme editor with the WiseReviews app embed already switched on, and Enable app blocks opens a product page with the Product Reviews block already added.
  • Once a step is live, its button reads Manage.
  • The badges refresh when you come back to the WiseReviews tab, so a change you make in the theme editor shows up without a reload.

# Import an eBay store's whole feedback

  • Paste an eBay store link (like ebay.com/str/thesellersname) into Import reviews to bring in the seller's feedback across all their listings. It comes in as shop reviews, so there is no product to pick.
  • eBay's own automated feedback is now left out, so you only get what buyers actually wrote.
  • Fixed: eBay imports of more than 25 seller feedbacks repeated the same first page, which created duplicates.
  • Fixed: eBay imports failed with a review-count error when the seller had 1,000 or more feedback entries.

# Fix: review and reviewer data exports not arriving by email

  • Exporting reviews or reviewer data showed a success message in the app, but the file never arrived in your inbox. Both exports are delivered again.
  • This started with our recent switch of email provider and affected every export in that window. If an export went missing, just run it again from Reviews.
  • See Import and export reviews via CSV and Manage your reviews.

# Verify your custom sending domain yourself

Setting up a custom sender address (Plus plan) is now fully self-serve. Instead of contacting support, the Manage email address window shows the DNS records to add at your domain provider, with copy buttons and a live Pending or Verified status. Click Check verification once the records are in place. See Send emails from your own domain.

# Send, retry, and resend review requests yourself

You can now send a review request without waiting for its schedule. On the Review requests page, each row has a button next to View order:

  • Send now sends a scheduled request right away.
  • Retry re-sends one that failed.
  • Resend sends a delivered request to the customer one more time (once per request).

Resends count toward your monthly review request limit. See Send review request emails.
