Moderate new reviews automatically

Decide what happens when a customer submits a new review: which ratings go live automatically, which words get a review held back, and how you're notified.

All of these settings live in one place: go to Settings, then under Manage new reviews click Go to settings.

Choose which ratings publish automatically

Under Autopublish new reviews, select the star ratings that should go live without your approval (5-star through 1-star). Any new review with a rating you did not select is saved as Unpublished, so you can read it first and publish it manually from the Reviews page.

By default all ratings autopublish. A common setup is selecting only 4-star and 5-star, so lower ratings wait for your approval.

Filter out unwanted words

  1. Set Profanity filter to Unpublish reviews containing blacklisted words.
  2. In Blacklisted words, type words separated by commas and click Add.

Any new review whose title or text contains one of these words is saved as Unpublished instead of going live. Nothing is deleted; you can still publish it manually after reading it.

Block specific visitors

In the Blocked IP addresses card, click Manage and enter one IP address per line. Visitors from these addresses can't submit reviews at all; they'll see "Sorry, you are not allowed to submit a review."

Reply to new reviews automatically

Tick Auto reply to new reviews using magic reply to let AI respond to each new review for you. If the customer provided an email address, they also receive your reply by email. Auto replies use your monthly Magic reply allowance; see Reply to reviews with Magic reply.

Get notified about new reviews

Set Notify via email to Enabled and enter the address in Notification email. You'll get an email whenever a customer submits a new review on your storefront (imported reviews and reviews you create yourself don't trigger a notification). This is especially useful when some reviews wait unpublished for your approval.

Remember to click Save after changing any setting.
